Control Your Smart Home with NFC Tags!

Setup a simple nfc tag automation that will toggle any of our HomeKit accessories on or off. NFC tag automations work natively with any iPhone XS or later.

Below is a written version of the steps shown in the video

Create Shortcut:

1. Open Shortcuts App – Create new shortcut
2. Add IF Action
3. Tap “input” and choose “Select a Home Accessory”
4. Choose the device you wish to control (garage door in this example)
5. Tap “Condition” and choose “is” “closed”
6. Add Action – “Control HomeKit Home”
7. Select accessories to change (garage door – open)
8. Drag that Control Home action inside the “IF” action
9. Add Action – “Control HomeKit Home”
10. Select accessories to change (garage door – close)
11. Drag that Control Home action inside the “Otherwise” action

To Setup an NFC Tag

1. Create new Personal Automation (Automation Tab)
2. Select NFC
3. Scan and name NFC Tag
4. Add Action – Run Shortcut
5. Choose the Short you just created to open the garage door
