Custom Siri Announcements for Your Home!
In this video I’ll show you how to create custom Siri announcements that work with your HomeKit smart home automations. Have Siri welcome you home when you open the door, alert you with an “intruder alert” if the alarm is triggered, or announce that a window has been opened!
Step-By-Step Guide:
- Create a new shortcut. Use the “speak” action and type your message.
- Start a screen recording and run the shortcut.
- Share the screen recording to your Mac (airdrop)
- Open the screen recording in Quicktime and export “audio only”
- Open that audio file in Apple Music on your Mac, sync your library to iCloud
- Set up automation on your iPhone in the home app: When a device or sensor is triggered, play media on your HomePod (select the new audio file from your music library) 7. Optional: Convert automation to a shortcut, add “wait” action and play music on the HomePod.
